Something "new"

I'm going to start TRYING to display pictures of our town and the river flooding that is not going to avoid us this year.  The "good" news is, at our home we should be fine, but our downtown area and some good friends may not escape it this time :(

What a week!

It starts with the Shuttle Discovery's last trip ending.  It really brought back memories to watch it land.  We saw The Challenger land in CA the last time before that tragic accident.  Man...I didn't think I'd get emotional.

Then the devastating earthquake in Japan and the tsunami that followed....devastation is really an understatement.   I pray for the Pacific and the country of Japan that the death toll remains relatively low and that they can heal and rebuild.  Please pray that the nuclear plant gets everything under control because on top of everything else, this is the last thing they need to struggle with in that country.
Don't get me wrong...I am struck by how much turmoil and devastation is there.  I am very grateful and thankful that it didn't happen a month later (why did it happen at all?!) when my husband would be traveling there.  If you think I'm fit to be tied while he's gone anyway, imagine if he was in the area (although he only spends a limited time on Japan) and this happened?!  I'd probably have to be committed.
Again, not taking away from the experiences they are having, but I'm just thankful that everyone I know of (Cevin's coworkers and contacts) are all safe and alive.  Please pray for them.  These are people just like you and me.  TRAGIC.

To top the week off... germs can officially leave my house now!  They've crippled all of us.  Lincoln and mommy were the last to be affected and now it's taking it's toll on us.  Little guy got pink eye earlier this week and now he's got a terrible cough - he only seems to sleep comfortably when somewhat upright :(  POOR KID.  Mommy's (my) ear and head are stuffed up and my throat feels like it's on fire.  OKAY we give up...germs.  Cevin had the flu, Abby's been on antibiotics for 10 days for a double ear and double eye infection as a result from her bacterial cold, and now Lincoln and me.  MAYBE this week we can open the windows for a few hours?!?!!?  Just maybe.... ;)
